Our apartment complex decided to hold their first annual hot dog eating contest. The boys were surprised to find out that they had all been signed up by Jed, the moxie team leader. Being the good sports they are, they went through with it. They had to eat as many hot dogs as they could in 5 mins. Despite what they thought going into it, they had a good time, and everyone watching got a good laugh.
When the five minutes were up Karl had won the contest with 11 hot dogs!! GROSS

Karl received a 50 dollar gift card to Target, for winning.. way to go Karl... i guess... BARF
In North Carolina you can't see a whole lot. Basically the road in front of you and the trees on the sides of you. I never thought that the mountains would be anything special to me, but being here makes me miss the mountains SO much! So the group ( Ryan, lindsey, Jake, Tanner and I ) Decided to head up to Crowder Mountain. We all laughed when we found it.. it was more like a big foot hill, but we felt that much closer to home.
The boys, being the boy scouts we love, made a fire and we decided to make tin foil dinners. They turned out pretty well considering the conditions. The cookie dough on the other hand didn't work out as well as planned, and tasted like charcoal.
After dinner we headed up the mountain. The hike was about 4 miles.. as sad as it is, it kicked our butts.. Freak i'm getting old ;) But it was so worth it!
At the end of the day we were all happy. It was so nice to escape the city, and do something out of the ordinary.
We finally made it to the beach! Over Memorial Day weekend we decided to go to Folly Beach, Charleston South Carolina. It was about a 3 1/2 hour drive, but it was SO worth it. The beach town was so fun. There were tons of people walking around, tons of little surf shops and out side restaurants. When we made it to the actual beach we didn't waist any time. We set out our stuff, lathered on the sunscreen, and headed for the water. Tanner Ran up the beach and rented two boogie boards. After that we headed for the water. I LOVE EAST COAST BEACHES! The water is warm, the sand is soft, and the people are so nice. All these things made for a perfect day.

Update! Its been about a month now. We are finally all settled in. The days go by super slow.. and the weekends go too fast! . Since I have had nothing to do during the day I have become very good friends with the pool :)

I would go crazy if Lindsey wasn't here to keep me sane for the second half of the day. We are big fans of Steak and Shake Shakes.. I may be getting fat... but at least i'll be happy!

The drive out here was long! Im just glad that my little jam packed honda civic made it! The first day we drove 13 hours and stopped in Lincoln Nebraska. the second we drove 12 hours and stopped in Nashville Tenessee. And the third we drove 6 hours and finally got to North Carolina. We went through Wyoming, Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, Kentucky, Tenessee, North Carolina ( and a little bit of South Carolina.. don't ask.). wyoming was by far the worst state to drive though, and Tenessee was the prettiest. Its crazy how each individual state has thier own little differences.

It was nice to see Faces we recognized out here. If you don't know, we came out here so that Tanner could work for Moxie Pest control. Luckily we got this idea from some friends that were already planning on coming out. They all got up here a couple weeks before we did. So they have had time to settle and figure the area out. THANK GOODNESS. It is crazy out here. The culture is very different. They drive crazy close and dont signal. I about have a heart attack everytime we attempt the roads. I have yet to figure out why people say that Utah drivers are crazy. Its getting better though.. Anyways, Tanners boss Joey gave us a couple days to settle in, and had Tanner started knocking doors Friday. He did such a good job for his first day. He works from 9 in the morning to around 9 at night. So in the meantime i've got to figure out what to do with my self. luckily there is an AWESOME shoe store here and i've got a friend that likes to go with me:)
We have slowly been collecting furnature for our apartment. At first we only had an air mattress to sleep on. But thanks to some friends out here we now have a dining room table with chairs to eat on, and a futon to sit on! yay! all for 55 dollars! SCORE. Our place is slowly starting to look like a home.
So far everything is great out here. We do miss home quite a bit, but we are excited to so what adventures come our way! I will be putting pictures up soon! xo
I am going to try this whole blog thing. Now be patient because i have a feeling its going to take me a while to figure everything out!
